Endogenous substance determination

Dopamine is a naturally occurring catecholamine that plays an important role as a neurotransmitter in the CNS. Studies showed that dopamine depletion is closely related to Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, depression and the regulation of motoric movements. Dopamine is biosynthesized from its amino acid precursor L-dopa by the action of the enzyme dopa decarboxylase. The main synthesis and metabolism of dopamine showed as below.

A sensitive and selective LC–MS/MS method has been developed and validated for the determination of DA (Dopamine), DOPAC (3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid) and HVA (Homovanillic acid) in cerebrospinal fluid.
