Neurotransmitter Transporter

Neurotransmitter transporters are key components of synapses. They are mainly located in the cell membranes of nerve endings, where they terminate the action of released neurotransmitters through reuptake.

Because of their important roles in depression and neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease, neurotransmitter transporters have become an important class of drug targets.
